BELT FED MACHINE GUN WITH TRIPOD. Cal 30. S# 15235. Bbl is 24" shrouded. The M37 is an evolution of the Browning Machine Gun introduced in the late 1940's as a tank gun. It was designed to have the ability to be fed from both the left side & right side through the use of dual slots on the bolt, similar to the Browning 50 caliber M2. At first glance it might be mistaken for a Model 1919 A6, due to the carry handle located forward of the front trunnion & the familiar ventilated barrel shroud. Closer inspection will reveal the rear mounted cocking handle in place of the typical stubby handle that is typically located in the center of the receiver. Adjustable flip up blade front sight. Abscent rear sight. Feeding mechanism is present however there is no bolt or other internal components. Right side plate is marked "No.15235 U.S.INSP. RBA/Gun, Machine, Cal.30,M37/U.S. Property/MFD Sako-Lowell Shops/ BA4/4-69". And In Tram American Sacramento CA import marking. Tripod marked TE/C59336/AMC/Mount Tripod/M122/No.3475".CONDITION: overall very good reparkerized metal finish on firearm with a few scattered light handling marks and some mild handling wear.
